John Ellis is the creater and builder of  of the 'Curious Traveller'. He is an exhibiting artist and has worked in the creative visual arts for 30 years. John takes a global approach to the arts, blending all the creative strands of visual and performing arts, art history, architecture, media, puppetry and music into a simple and magical way of experiencing art and culture.

Using may own photograpths from my various travels. I computer process them through the most basic of programs. I use various oxides charcoals and lacquers to attach these computer driven prints to canvas. The finished works have a modern twist on Japanese laquered screen methods and designs.

Inspiration can come from the most unexpected places and so it was when I visited a second-hand market. There I stumbled upon an old framed print of a picture by Melbourne artist Leonard French.

The picture became the inspiration for the above work by 180 student in Brentwood Secondary College Melbourne. In essence we developed a series of emblematic mandalas.
